- Energy-Efficiency Tips for Home
Our Education and Awareness program offers customers the opportunity to invite an energy expert from Tampa Electric to present valuable energy-saving tips and program information at your event. An event can include a group of customers gathering for a neighborhood meeting, a classroom of adults and/or children, a business function and more. Submit a request for an energy expert. Tampa Electric customers who attend the event may qualify for a self-install energy-saving kit (see details below).
Agency Outreach
Our Agency Outreach program provides qualifying customers with bill payment assistance through the Federal Government's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). To be eligible to receive assistance, please reference the poverty guidelines. If you live in Hillsborough County, you may apply at one of the Hillsborough County local agency providers. The agency will assign a case manager who will share an energy-educational video and provide the information you need to schedule a free Home Energy Audit. You many also qualify for Tampa Electric’s Neighborhood Weatherization program.
Both programs offer a free energy-saving kit that includes:
- Four energy-efficient light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs
- Hot water gauge card
- Wall plate thermometer
- Low-flow aerators
- Air filter whistle
Qualifying Tampa Electric customers can receive one kit per household per year.
Electric Vehicle and Energy Education Program
We are proud to be the first electric utility in the country to offer an innovative energy-education program focused on teaching students about electric vehicle technology. Tampa Electric has partnered with the University of South Florida, the Center for Urban Transportation Research and local high schools to offer the Electric Vehicle and Energy Education Program. Approved by the Florida Public Service Commission in 2017, the Electric Vehicle and Energy Education Program is an extension of our Education, Awareness & Outreach.
